Alexandria is another great example of how the hobby is thriving across outstate Minnesota, and Elemental Games has been a cornerstone of that scene for a full decade. Sitting just off Highway 29 on the edge of downtown, the shop is a pure TCG haven — intentionally and expertly curated by owner Tony Anderson, a collector and player at heart.
Tony keeps the focus razor‑sharp: no sports cards, no clutter — just the games he knows best. He’ll even point sports collectors to Oasis Sports Cards across town (which is how I discovered it). While I was there, he helped a customer build a gameplay‑ready deck as inexpensively as possible, and it was clear he’s the kind of owner who genuinely enjoys helping people find the right lane for their hobby.
Elemental Games buys and sells Magic: The Gathering, Yu‑Gi‑Oh!, Pokémon and any other TCG under the sun as well as vintage video games. Magic is their top seller, followed closely by Gundam and Lorcana, but the shop sees a steady stream of Pokémon collectors and added One Piece to the lineup this past summer. If you’re looking for a place to play, Elemental Games is one of the busiest shops in outstate MN. They host events almost every day they’re open and keep the calendar current on their Facebook page.
With four dedicated gameplay tables, the shop is constantly alive with action. Elemental Games is organized with collectors in mind: 5 display cases packed with TCG singles, 1 display case dedicated to vintage video games, and a full room of shelving loaded with thousands of sorted singles. They use a Roca Sorter — a machine that automatically sorts roughly 500 cards per hour. It’s one of the coolest behind‑the‑scenes tools you’ll find in any Minnesota shop, and it helps them maintain an enormous inventory of neatly organized singles.
Tony’s passion for the hobby is woven into the shop’s identity. Whether you’re stopping in for singles, sealed product, a vintage game, or an evening event, Elemental Games delivers the kind of experience only a true TCG‑focused store can. If you’d like to check it out for yourself, you can find directions and full shop details in our Card Shop Directory.
